Autocasco - what does the calculation of contributions depend on?

The price of AC insurance depends on many factors. The amount of premium is affected by both the scope of insurance cover and the individual situation of the insured and their car.

AC insurance is especially recommended for owners of new cars and cars with high market value. In case of theft, damage or destruction of the car, the insurer will pay the driver the due amount of compensation, allowing for the repair of damage or purchase of a new car.

AC will also be a good solution for those road users who do not want to finance repairs of their own cars from their own pockets as the perpetrators of collisions or crashes. Thanks to AC insurance, the insurer will cover all necessary expenses.

What does the price of an AC policy depend on?

The rules of calculating the AC insurance premium are defined in the General Insurance Terms and Conditions (GIC). Most often, the policy price is determined on the basis of the basic rate, the so-called base rate (% of the vehicle value) and after adding certain discounts or rebates, resulting from the individual risk assessment of the vehicle and the customer's insurance history.

Below we present the most important factors influencing the level of AC insurance premium.

AC and car age

In most insurance companies, owners of old cars may have a problem with buying AC policies. Although a 10-year-old car can easily be insured by almost any insurance company, with an older model it can be a lot of trouble.

It is also worth knowing that the AC insurance for a car that is several years old usually differs from the autocasco insurance for a new or several years old vehicle. The policy for the older car is usually reduced to the basic version, and any compensation payments in the event of a crash or collision are reduced accordingly. The scope of the AC policy will be reflected in the premium rate. The wider the scope of protection, the more expensive the policy will be.

It is worth knowing that the cost of AC insurance for older cars, whose value does not exceed PLN 10,000, is often much lower than the need to repair the damaged vehicle yourself. If your vehicle is stolen, the AC policy will partially compensate you for the loss incurred.

Place of residence and registration of the vehicle

If you live in a village or small town, you can expect a lower contribution rate. In a smaller city, the probability of collision and theft is much lower than in a large agglomeration. The insurer therefore bears less risk.

Make of the car

The brand name of the car is also important. The lower rate will be paid by the driver who owns a car that is not at the forefront of police accident and theft statistics.

AC and discounts for harmless driving

One of the key elements in the calculation of the AC premium is the possibility of discounts for harmless driving. In most insurance companies you will get a 10 percent discount for each year of harmless driving. This way you can achieve a relief of up to 60 percent.

Age and experience of the driver

As the statistics show, young, inexperienced drivers are the main perpetrators of road accidents. Young traffic participants who have not yet managed to earn discounts for harmless driving will pay the most for their insurance policy.

Most insurance companies will pay a higher premium if you are under 26 and have a driving licence for less than 3 years.
