Ford Mustang Lifting GT 5.0 V8 (2018)

The new generation of Mustang has received an astonishingly good reception in Europe - and after the 2018 lift this enthusiasm can only increase. What has been improved in the legendary Ford model and hasn't its original, specific character been lost?

Changes in price

The Mustang, though legendary, has never been shockingly expensive. Even after the lift, the creators decided to keep the price affordable and acceptable. What was saved up for? These are mainly the lower parts of the cabin, among others, stylized on chrome-plated switches imitating those of the aircraft cabs. There is also an opinion that the couch mountings are not sufficiently robust. Such cuts, however, do not translate into driving comfort that is worth taking into account.

With the new lifting Mustang, you can really sit back down comfortably. This is due to the spacious, heated and ventilated seats. Instead of clocks, a screen was installed to allow numerous configurations. Among the multimedia there is not the worst SYNC3 set and Shaker audio with solid bass. Very long doors can be an obstacle in crowded Polish car parks.

Position in the car - classics of the species

The seat in the new Mustang has been placed high and the steering wheel low, giving the impression that the pedals are mounted at seat height. It is also comfortable at the back, but not necessarily for tall people. The narrow loading aperture of the boot can be somewhat problematic, despite the satisfactory capacity (408 litres).

V8 engine - is it worth the extra charge?

The basic version of the Ford Mustang has a 2.3 engine, which translates into a lighter front and therefore lighter handling. Another option is the five-litre Coyote unit - it emits beautiful sounds when you press the start button. It is worth mentioning that the car has the ability to mute the exhaust sound - it can be useful early in the morning or late at night, under the windows of neighbors. Coyote works really beautifully - it bubbles gently at a lower speed, and over 4,000 roars like a monster. Turnover can be up to 7,000, but it doesn't happen very often while driving a car - fortunately, because the economy of driving a Mustang already leaves something to be desired.

Ten-speed automatic

A gearbox with so many gears gets a little tuggy while driving. Nevertheless, the engineers contributed to the development of the software. The gearbox catches the intentions well and efficiently shifts several gears at once (especially in sports and track mode). This makes the ten-speed transmission almost trouble free to drive the Mustang.

Impressions from behind the wheel of a Mustang

The Mustang is just the way it should be - you can count on a whole range of classic sensations associated with sitting behind the wheel of this legendary Ford. Huge power and acceleration provide adrenaline... as well as the massive combustion. 20l/100km in the city and 12l/100km on the highway is no shock. The RPM limiter blocks engine operation at 4,000 at standstill - so it is impossible to present the engine's market in its full glory to intrigued passers-by.

What about the suspension?

A V8 Mustang with a V8 engine unfortunately loses its sports claw. You have to watch out for the back that likes to fall out in the corners. The 2.3 version is slightly lighter and smoother to drive. In a Mustang (1700 kg) car, the suspension, even the most adaptive, does not change much. The steering system is not very precise here. The V8 version is fast, uncomfortable to drive and emotional - isn't that what the Ford Mustang is all about?
